At City Council I represented the Wabongo Leadership Council and read a statement in support of Rockford Promise. I’m extremely proud of our city for approving the funding for this incredible gift to our community of a free 4-year degree to NIU. Change is coming Rockford! I’m excited and hopeful for our future. HISTORY MADE! I have officially submitted my paperwork to become the next Alderman of the 5th Ward, Rockford’s South Side. I only needed 25 signatures on my petition, however, I knocked down over 200 houses myself and it doesn’t stop there! I was intentional about making sure I walked the streets so I could listen to resident concerns and get ideas on how to make our community better. Young people, this is our moment. Will you stand with me and help me win this thing on February 23rd? VOTE TORINA!

FOOD GIVEAWAY! It’s been a tough year for our community and I’m excited to share the Friends of Gabrielle Torina, Conscious Coaching, Street Soldiers MC, and Voices of Inspiration have partnered with Molina Healthcare to provide bags of food for Thanksgiving. Thank you to both Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (West Side) and St. Paul Church of God in Christ (South Side) who generously offered their parking lots as food distribution sites.

What an immense pleasure to distribute 700 bags of food to Rockford residents. 2020 has certainly dealt us all extraordinary challenges. In spite of it all, I’m incredibly grateful to have partnered with Molina Heathcare and community change makers: Conscious Coaching, Voices of Inspiration, and Street Soldiers MC to bring joy to my community today.

When I was a child one of my favorite toys was my “Gabby Bear.” I can remember bringing it everywhere with me because it was my best friend AND we had the same name. This cheerfully colored Gabbi Bear will be no exception! It was custom made with love at Build-A-Bear and has yet to be cuddled. When I was asked to hold and say a wish over the heart that was placed inside, I prayed that God would abundantly bless whoever got to love this bear. Gabbi Bear comes with a 4 layer sequin rainbow tutu, pink metallic Chucks, its skin color is many shades of love, and it has a happy cupcake sweater for those cold Rockford winters. Gabbi Bear is in desperate need of hugs. Would you consider making a donation so that someone can give this bear the love it deserves? Or perhaps just consider giving a donation to show some love to the real Gabbi herself. Thank you for beary much for your consideration and your support.
The Gabbi Bear Raffle will run from November 25 to December 11, 2020. Winner will be chosen via a live drawing.

LIVE FREE ALDERMANIC CANDIDATE FORUM
Live Free hosted a candidate forum and all candidates had the opportunity to answer the following questions:
Why do you want to be on City Council? What prompted you to run for office?
What specific talents from your previous experiences make you a good candidate for your office?
What are the special challenges of your constituent area and how do you plan to address those needs?
What do you think the community can do about the increase in gun violence that has not already been done? How can we keep this issue from impacting our youth?
What are your thoughts regarding re-entry services for individuals that have been involved in the criminal justice system?
How do we feel about City of Rockford employees being unobligated to live where they work? Does proximity play a role when law enforcement police areas they do not reside?
